Uganda at a glance

Uganda’s population of over 37 million (37,000,000) people includes over 33 ethnic groups with distinct culture and languages, giving this country broad linguistic and cultural diversity. Uganda boasts of being the pearl of Africa on account of its very hospitable people and the most favourable climate on the continent. With two major rain fall seasons a year, most of the country can support agriculture. Uganda is also home to the source of the river Nile which is the longest river in the world. Deep seated poverty and decades of violent political instability dating back to 1966 took their toll on the country and her people. However, since 1996, there has been no civil war and peace is being experienced all over the country, creating an opportunity for long term social economic development.

About Aim Home care uganda

Aim Home care Uganda has been operating in Uganda since 2012 Our work in the country is guided by the NGO Forum,National Development Plan and the UN Millennium Development Goals. Aim Home care Uganda is a community-based woman and child-focused non governmental organization in Uganda covering Kamwenge District. Aim Home care Uganda works with key child rights stakeholders including children, civil society organisations, communities, government and the media, in contributing to the realization of children’s rights. We strive to develop and implement durable solutions that will benefit children and their communities including improving health care systems, increasing access to quality basic education and creating capacity for preparedness and response to emergencies.

Aim Home care Uganda works to achieve children’s rights, particularly for the poorest and most marginalized, who are most at risk of their rights being denied. The principles, rights and obligations set out in The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child provide a framework for all our work. In Uganda we implement programmes in the six thematic programme areas of Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Livelihood and Food Security, Health and Nutrition and HIV/AIDS in development and emergency contexts.
